Vision & Mission
Traumatology Institute (TI) offers trauma informed professional and community training for trauma survivors and the professionals who serve them. This include community members, mental health professionals, first responders, health care providers, organizations, and others involved in serving trauma survivors recover.
Dr. Baranowsky developed a unique set of training program for both trauma professionals as well as survivors. She co-created (with Dr. J. Eric Gentry) an internationally recognized series of trauma informed training programs leading to certificate of completion in Compassion Fatigue, Early Intervention Field Trauma, Clinical Traumatology and Community & Workplace Traumatology. A comprehensive series of manuals, audio recordings, youtube videos, podcasts to support our training materials and to ensure the learner has a meaningful experience.
Traumatology Institute (TI) is the official provider of the Traumatology Institute Training Curriculum. The Institute is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and offers a full complement of trauma recovery courses nationally and internationally. Courses are offered online and at host locations.
Our History
In 1995, following the Oklahoma City Bombing, the original Traumatology Institute was established as a non-profit organization at Florida State University – Center for Professional Development in Tallahassee, Florida, under the direction of Dr. Charles Figley, a renowned trauma expert.
In 1998, the Traumatology Institute (Canada) was established. TI has trained thousands of individuals nationally and internationally.
In September 2001, the original Traumatology Institute moved to the University of South Florida and was renamed the International Traumatology Institute (ITI). The ITI was closely involved in recovery interventions following the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001
